Everyday Inclusion 2023: Inclusion in Action

Finance and Administration Everyday Inclusion August 2023 Inclusion In Action (rainbow band swirls)

The theme for Finance and Administration's 2023 inclusion initiative was Inclusion in Action. In August 2023, all departments in our VPFA portfolio were invited to take on weekly challenges, join tours of campus, challenge themselves with new topics, and take actions--big and small--to increase acceptance and inclusion in our workplace. Whether you work in Business Affairs or Information Services, Safety and Risk or Human Resources, CPFM or FASS, Campus Services or BFADA, the VPFA diversity committee invited you to try a challenge or two each week. The committee created a variety of ways for all employees to join an online or in-person event to connect with colleagues and try something new. Reach out and bring others along--and continue your learning and actions long past August.

"The people in Finance and Administration work incredibly hard to serve and support all aspects of campus life. During August each year, we dedicate time to appreciate our strength in difference, our unique perspectives, and our resilience and creative ways of getting things done. I encourage all of us to take time next month to visit a new part of campus, participate in a new learning activity, reach out to people you don't work with regularly, and take actions to ensure more voices can be heard in our workplace. I look forward to seeing you at some events in August."

  5. Shared a three-sentence story. Each year we create a portfolio-wide initiative that people can participate in regardless of where they work or what they do. In 2023, we requested three-line stories. Stories submitted to vpfadiversity@uoregon.edu were shared online: https://blogs.uoregon.edu/everydayinclusion2023threesentencestories/.
