Senior Financial Analyst

What area do you work in within the VPFA portfolio?

Budget & Resource Planning (within BFADA)

What is your current position, and what are your job responsibilities?

Senior Financial Analyst. Most of my focus is on payroll and Blended OPE (other payroll expense) data for building out OPE rates as well as projection models that use job and payroll data. Additionally, I build out and manage the Beginning Budget and Carry Forward processes for campus finance personnel (as well as ad-hoc reports for those processes to the CFO).

What has been your career path; how did you end up in your current position?

I started out doing administrative work in law firms in the 90s and then branched out to do operations/ financial management when I returned to the States in the early aughts. I moved to the public sector after the second crash in ’08 and have really enjoyed being a small part of a larger vision to give back and serve the community I live in. I started at UO in August of 2015.

What do you like about your current position?

I really enjoy helping others to make informed decisions and the technical aspects of finding/vetting the data to achieve that. I love puzzles! And I feel that daily I am being asked to solve a puzzle.

Share a little about yourself personally:

I have a husband, son, two cats, and one dog (who thinks she is a cat, ha!). I love working in my veggie garden, hiking, trail running, and any time outside in the woods to be honest. My husband and I spent our honeymoon hiking the John Muir Trail (north to south). My husband and I plan to thru-hike as many of our bucket list trails as we can when we retire. Our son is NOT a hiker (he prefers video games, as most tweens do), but we try to do at least one family camping trip a year in the mountains.

When I’m not in the outdoors, I am a voracious reader and hobby sewist/knitter. I usually read about 3-4 books a week. I read a variety of genres in both fiction and non-fiction.

If I could have the answer to life, the universe and everything, I hope it would be something more substantial and meaningful than 42. šŸ˜‰
