Donna Sutton Chittenden

Program Manager and Fee Book Administrator

What area do you work in within the VPFA portfolio?
I work in Budget and Resource Planning (BRP).

What is your current position, and what are your job responsibilities?
My title is Program Manager and Fee Book Administrator.
As the fee book administrator I manage the Special Fees, Fines, Penalties and Service Charges Fee Book, which includes course fees assessed to students and other fees and fines charged to the university community and to external customers. I also manage the office budget, HR functions, and work with the BRP team to support budget activities for the university and campus units.

What has been your career path; how did you end up in your current position?
I was working in my first professional job (not counting the high school fast food jobs), an office support position for a private company in the Eugene area, when a friend suggested that I should consider working at the university. My first position at the university was in BRP as an office assistant 30 years ago. After a few years in the budget office I accepted an executive assistant position in the Provost/Academic Affairs office. Ten years later I made the move back to BRP as office manager. The BRP office, my position, and the processes have changed several times since I originally started.

What do you like about your current position?
There are many things that I like, such as being a member of the central budget office and working with the various units and people who have different projects and processes. Also, I support the mission of the university and I enjoy being on campus, which is what has kept me here for so many years.

Share a little about yourself personally:
  • Family:  I have been married for 30 years. I am a bonus Mom to a daughter and son, with 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons.
  • Favorite food:  Anything that I don’t have to cook. Cooking is not my thing so I never have a plan until I open the fridge, which is not always a good thing when you have a husband who is a picky eater. If we go out it is usually for a hamburger, and Sunday nights are pizza night after our bowling league.
  • Best movie you’ve seen:  I don’t feel that I have a best movie as I’ve seen so many good ones but I admit to binge watching the Harry Potter movies several times.
  • Photo: The photo for this piece shows me and my husband in Jamaica last year for our 30th anniversary; that was also when I reached my 30 years at the UO!
