Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) Search

Dear Colleagues:
I am very excited to announce that Mark Schmelz has accepted my offer to serve as our new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), pending review and approval of necessary search documentation. We anticipate that Mark will assume his new position full-time on June 1, 2019.
As CHRO, Mark will be responsible for leading our Human Resources team as we continue to build and improve our HR services and programs for campus.
Mark joins us with 20 years of experience in human resources, including 11 years leading employee and labor relations efforts in higher education. He currently serves as the CHRO for the University of Maine system, which has seven universities, as well as a law school and an additional 31 course sites, and a population of more than 29,000 students and approximately 5,400 employees. Mark holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Shippensburg University.
I would like to thank Kaia Rogers and Missy Matella for their leadership of HR over the last year. I also wish to thank the search committee for their efforts to bring a very accomplished slate of candidates to campus.
Please join me in welcoming Mark to our community.
