Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity

The Office of Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity works with the University of Oregon community to ensure the institution is fulfilling the letter and spirit of its legal obligations related to affirmative action, equal opportunity, and nondiscrimination. As part of that effort, the office develops the university's affirmative action plan, works with hiring authorities to achieve a diverse workforce and an inclusive and accessible work environment, serves as a resource to those with or addressing possible discrimination or harassment concerns, and strives to further integrate the university's commitment to diversity into every-day practices.
Budget and Finance

Units within Budget and Finance support the university's core mission areas of teaching, research, and public service by providing proactive and responsive financial and business services, promoting progressive and sustainable business practices, and ensuring careful stewardship of the university's resources. The following units fall into the Budget and Finance division: Budget and Resource Planning; Business Affairs; Purchasing and Contracting Services; and Printing and Mailing Services.
Budget and Resource Planning

In addition to financial planning and monitoring, Budget and Resource Planning provides financial analysis functions for the university. The office has overall responsibility for developing and implementing university budget policies that place the institution's resources in line with its mission and strategies.
Business Affairs

Business Affairs oversees services for students, faculty, and staff, specifically those provided by Student Financial Services, Cashiering, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Travel, eCommerce and General Campus Financial Services. As part of that effort, the office administers the institution's use of BANNER FIS, while also managing and securing the material assets of the university. Overall, the Business Affairs Office is responsible for ensuring that the institution applies sound and responsive business practices while adhering to all regulations, policies, procedures, and industry standards.
Printing and Mailing Services

Printing and Mailing Services embraces leading-edge technology to enhance the university's academic stature with high-quality publications in a cost effective and responsive service environment. In addition to campus mail deliveries, the office also provides copyright clearance and course packet production, domestic and international mail service, and express delivery.
Purchasing and Contracting Services

Purchasing and Contracting Services develops strategies and leverages resources to acquire goods and services on behalf of the university. The office strives to obtain the best value and quality services for the university by fostering campus-wide collaboration on vendor contracts and by applying a wide range of procurement strategies. Staff work proactively with the campus community to ensure that projects involving purchasing and contracting move smoothly from conception to completion.
Campus Operations

Campus Operations oversees the campus public works, construction operations and project management, utilities, and campus environmental health and safety functions. The team performs a wide variety of jobs, including maintenance and repair, minor and capital construction, custodial services, architectural design, landscaping, and moving services. Campus Operations also plays a strong role in sustainability with the recycle group, the sustainability working group, and the campus carbon footprint through the campus energy center. Working in partnership with a network of building managers the staff works to ensure the smooth operations of all campus facilities on the main campus and in other geographic locations.
Campus Planning and Real Estate

Campus Planning and Real Estate oversees the acquisition and creation of facilities and campus open spaces that support and enhance the teaching, research, and public service activities of the University of Oregon. In addition to real estate management and campus and project planning, the office ensures compliance with state, federal, and university regulations and standards, maintains a detailed inventory of university spaces, and provides guidance for responsible stewardship of campus lands and facilities. Professionals within the office are available for consultation in the earliest stages of idea development related to major renovation, capital construction and real estate acquisition. They work proactively to ensure that these activities result in sustainable projects making optimal use of university resources.
Sustainability

The Office of Sustainability strives to reduce the university's environmental footprint and raise awareness of environmental issues through policy and program development. The office monitors internal and external activities and plays an important coordinating role for the campus community. the office manages sustainability-oriented internal grant programs that support faculty and student-led initiatives to green research agendas, curriculum and engagement opportunities. the director provides staff support to the Environmental Issues Committee, is a member of the Sustainability Council and is actively engaged in Oregon University System initiatives.
Enterprise Risk, Environmental and Emergency Management

This unit consolidates the functions of Risk Management, Environmental Health & Safety, and Emergency Management & Continuity under one management and operational structure in the vice president for finance and administration division. These offices will work collaboratively with other campus partners to make the university more resilient. The unit will perform risk and vulnerability assessment, response, prevention, loss control, continuity and mitigation activities to protect the University's people, property, environment and mission. The offices in this unit integrate service learning and applied research into facets of its operation through its partnerships with the InfoGraphics Lab of the Department of Geography and the Community Service Center.
Emergency Management and Continuity Program

The Director of Emergency Management is responsible for monitoring events that may impact the ability of the University to meet its mission of teaching, research and public service; with creating and maintaining a robust and nimble framework for emergency management; and with alerting the VPFA, the president and other leadership of emerging situations and recommending appropriate response. Staffers in Emergency Management oversee activities, coordinate and support the extensive planning, training and exercising necessary to enable the University to mitigate, protect against, respond to, continue during and recover from natural and human-caused emergencies. They are available to provide consulting and training to campus constituents including faculty, deans, directors and others in leadership.
Environmental Health, Safety and Risk Management

Risk Management organizes and oversees the insurance, risk management and compliance administrative functions within the university, as well as serves as a central risk management resource for campus. The office develops and implements programmatic standards and operational procedures. Collaborating with academic administrative, and student affairs units, the office identifies and evaluates university exposures to loss and risk, as well as analyzes loss trends, and develops loss and risk control and compliance strategies. The office serves as the liaison to the Oregon Department of Administrative Services, Oregon University System, and other entities for risk management and insurance needs.
Human Resources

In addition to managing a spectrum of personnel functions, the office offers other services related to faculty, officers of administration and classified staff in all areas of the university. The office provides benefits counseling, work and family services information and support, short-term professional counseling or assessment with Cascade Centers as part of the employee assistance program, and workshops and resource coordination to promote the health and well-being of faculty and staff. It provides oversight for the Vivian Olum Child Development Center.
Office of Institutional Research

The Office of Institutional Research informs and strengthens institutional decision-making in a host of ways. The office serves as a clearinghouse for data and information requests from federal and state agencies, peer universities, and various private publishers. In addition, staffers analyze policies and perform social science research related to issues impacting students, faculty, staff, and others to support regular and on-going institutional self-examination. This office plays a critical role in enrollment and financial modeling and the director is a member of the Enrollment Planning Council.
Public Safety

Through its various community-oriented policing strategies, the Department of Public Safety (UODPS) strives to maintain a safe and secure campus environment conducive to living, learning and socializing. As part of that effort, the UODPS Safe Campus Team routinely collaborates with the Eugene Police Department on matters impacting the greater university community. In addition to its law enforcement services, Public Safety administers the campus commuter and parking services program. General information about public safety can be obtained by calling the UODPS administrative offices at 346-5444. For routine service calls, contact the UODPS communications and emergency response center at 346-2919. If a situation requires an immediate response by officers, use the UODPS emergency number at 346-6666.
